St. Lawrence Central hockey alums give back to the future

BRASHER FALLS --The SLC Hockey Alumni has donated $800 to the Tri-Town Minor Hockey efforts to purchase new mini-boards as part of USA Hockey's ADM model.

The alumni had their annual games over the Thanksgiving weekend and raised the money through player donations and a 50/50 raffle. Total cost of the mini-boards is expected to be $8,000.

In the 30-and-older game, the blue team scored first and more often winning the game 6-3 over the white squad. Mark LaFave enjoyed a hat trick while Jamie Sutton, Steve Yandoh, and Chris Bernard each scored once. Nick Arquiett made 17 stops in net for the blues. Other members of the blue squad included Leon Dishaw, Randy Arquiett, Mark Goodnow, RIck Newtown, Loren Fountain, and Brad Adams. The white team's David Barnes scored once and Adam LaBaff twice in the losing effort. Jonny Daoust made 19 saves for the white squad. Other members of the white team included Ben LaBaff, Randy Baldwin, Jamie Tharrett, Chris Rose, Isaiah Nezzezon, Pat Tharrett, John Jadlos, and Darin LaTrace.

In the 30-and-under game, the white squad won 8-5. Led by Ryan "Biggie" McCuin, Ian Lynch, and Brady Helmer, who each tallied twice, the white team saw two more knock-in singles by Mike Keenan and Kyle Phelix. Other members of the white team included Eric Lynch, Robert Crump, and Jarek Crump. The blue team saw goals from Tim Jonette, Jack Keenan and Brett Mahone. Other members of the blue team included Jobie McCarthy, Seth Clothier, Hayden Beaulieu, Matt James, and Adam Soller. There was only one goalie for the younger group; Kyle Shampine made 28 saves splitting the game between the two teams. The "Red Board" made an amazing 19 stops on both teams. Both games were officiated by two bantam volunteer referees, Zach St. Hilaire and Ian Bressette.
