St. Lawrence Central High School in Brasher Falls names 2015 class leaders

St. Lawrence Central High School has named Joel Truax as their valedictorian and Kody Kocsis as their salutatorian for the graduating class of 2015

Joel is the son of Mr. Bruce Truax of Brasher Falls and Ms. Heather Truax of Massena. He has participated in numerous extracurricular activities including National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the SLC Theatre Program. He also played varsity football where he was selected as the captain for his senior season, and was named First Team All-Northern.

Joel was the recipient of the Clarkson University Leadership Award and the Rochester Institute of Technology Computing Medal Award. He has been named to the Academic All-Northern team for Football for all three years that he has participated at the varsity level.

Joel will attend SUNY Polytechnic Institute and will pursue a degree computer and information science.

Salutatorian Kody Kocsis is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie and Lena Kocsis of Brasher Falls. Kody has also participated in several extracurricular activities including National Honor Society, Student Council, and Spanish Club. Additionally, he is a three-sport varsity athlete participating on the soccer, hockey and lacrosse teams. He served as the captain for both the varsity hockey and lacrosse teams, and has been named to the First and Second All-Northern teams in both hockey and lacrosse.

Kody was the recipient of the Innovation and Creativity Award from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He has been named to the Academic All-Northern team for Soccer, Hockey, and Lacrosse for all three years that he has participated at the varsity level.

Kody will be attend SUNY Canton this fall and pursue a degree in electrical engineering.
