CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is giving its annual scholarship in remembrance of SUNY Canton Librarian Mary L. Bucher.
Bucher was a 34-year employee of the college who passed away last spring.
She was much revered for her wisdom and helpful nature. She was also the appointed college archivist. Bucher was an active and dedicated member of the St. Lawrence County Branch of AAUW, and was the chair of the committee for the chapter's scholarship.
The scholarship is awarded to a female SUNY Canton student from St. Lawrence County through the SUNY Canton Foundation. Criteria for the scholarship include the submission of a 500 to 700-word essay, explaining the applicant's future educational goals, career ambitions, and outlining their service to the community.
