Spring-like temperatures to disappear in St. Lawrence County; winter weather, possible snow predicted

After spring-like weather today, St. Lawrence County temperatures are expected to fall into a more-normal but still mild winter pattern starting Tuesday.

Temperatures rose a little higher today than had been forecast, but predictions are calling for it to be a little cooler than normal by the end of the week.

Today's sunshine will give way to clouds tonight and a 40 to 50 percent chance of some snow showers tonight and tomorrow morning, one to two inches at most, according to the National Weather Service.

The high temperature tomorrow under partly sunny skies will probably not rise much above tonight's low of about 23 degrees. Then the thermometer drops to the single digits Tuesday night before rising to near 30 on Wednesday with sunny skies.

Temps drop to below 20 Wednesday night and will rebound to the mid-30s Thursday with partial sun.

The chance of shower rises a bit on Thursday night with lows about 13, and continues Friday, with a high of about 16.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday night could see below zero temps, with cloudy daytime conditions and highs ranging from the mid-teens Saturday to near 30 on Monday.

The National Weather Service forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and the northwestern Adirondacks:

Tonight: A chance of snow showers, mainly after 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. West wind between 5 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday: A slight chance of snow showers before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 23. North wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 3. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 29. Calm wind becoming west between 10 and 13 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 19. Southwest wind between 7 and 10 mph.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 34.

Thursday Night: A chance of snow showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 18. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -4.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 13.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -2.

Sunday: A chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 21. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around -3.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 28.
