POTSDAM – As SUNY Potsdam greets new and returning students, there will be a whirlwind of events taking place on campus in coming days.

On Friday, Aug. 27, beginning at 10 a.m. Approximately 930 freshmen and their families will be buzzing around campus and the village getting acquainted with the area and college life. This year’s freshman class is the biggest SUNY Potsdam first-year class since 1982.

The New Student Convocation and Campus Welcome will be led by Jude Kiah, ’91, who will give a keynote address to welcome freshmen at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27 in Hosmer Concert Hall. Immediately following that event, the Class of 2014 will plant a tree and pose for a class photo in the Bowman Hall Quad at approximately 6 p.m.

Several welcome back activities, including recreation events, will be offered during the New Student Activity Day on Saturday, Aug. 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. in Lehman Park. The event features a giant Slip-n-Slide, cooperative games, canoeing and kayaking.
