SOUTH COLTON -- The owner of a South Colton sled dog business will represent the U.S. at the 2017 IFSS Sleddog World Championship.
Spencer Thew, who runs Call of the Wild Dog Sled Tours & Boarding Kennel, and sled dog trainer Andre van der Merwe will compete at the games in Haliburton, Ont., Jan. 24 to 26.
There are 24 teams in each class.
Thew has competed in numerous races, including the 1993 Iditarod sled dog race from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska.
Call of the Wild offers sled dog tours and excursions year round.
Thew is also the founder and former owner of Atlantic Testing Laboratories and Thew Associates.
