Gusts up to 35 mph expected to bring temps down into single digits, snow showers in St. Lawrence Valley, forecasters say

No spring-like temperatures are expected in the St. Lawrence Valley anytime soon, and in fact it will be getting colder, with lows into the single digits later this week, forecasters predict.

Clouds will be increasing this afternoon in St. Lawrence County and gusty winds will continue as well as snow showers and flurries downwind of the Great Lakes, which are stretching into southern St. Lawrence County and the western Adirondacks today, the National Weather Service says.

Strong low pressure in Quebec is bringing colder air on westerly winds gusting to nearly 35 mph today.

High temperatures are in a more seasonal range, 22 to 25 degrees today, than we have seen earlier, and lows tonight will be in the low double digits.

There is more of a chance – up to 80 percent -- for snow showers with light accumulations Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night as that low pressure moves through the Saint Lawrence Valley. The forecasters say the high tomorrow will be around 25 degrees and tomorrow night’s lows will be in the mid tens.

Wednesday into Wednesday night, cloudiness and the chance of snow will be diminishing, but it will be colder, the NWS predicts, with a high in the mid teens and the low in the single digits.
