If you had any doubts that fall is coming, reports of frost this morning and the cold temperatures overnight in St. Lawrence County should dispel them.
Frost on the ground was reported as far north as Potsdam this morning.
No official weather stations in the county recorded freezing temperatures, but recorded overnight lows were 36 degrees at Potsdam's airport at about 5:30 a.m. and 38 degrees at Massena's Richards Field shortly before 6 a.m. today after a high of only 61 at mid-day yesterday.
In Franklin County, the temperature was 29 with freezing fog shortly before 4 a.m. at Adirondack Airport near Saranac Lake.
The average overnight low temperature during September in Massena is 48 degrees according U.S. Climate Data, 47 degrees according to the Weather Channel.
Massena's record low for Sept. 6 is 37, recorded in 1963
It won't get that cold tonight.
The predicted low is 43 in Star Lake, 49 in Potsdam and 52 in Massena.
