Quiet weather is expected across the St. Lawrence Valley, but active weather returns tonight with a long duration of snowfall expected Tuesday through Thursday dropping 4-12 inches of the white stuff, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Coastal low pressure will bring a moderate snowfall to portions of the region on Tuesday, followed by additional widespread light snow Wednesday and Thursday associated with an upper trough tracking across the Northeast, forecasters say.
Accumulating snow will return the region starting later tonight and last through mid-week for many areas, NWS says.
The area of greatest impact will occur across the eastern Adirondacks of New York, when modest accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are expected, the service says. Lighter totals are expected in the St. Lawrence and Champlain Valleys during this period.
A winter weather advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. Allow extra time if travel is necessary.
