Snow showers are likely to continue this afternoon as an "upper level disturbance" moves across St. Lawrence County, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers are expected to be light, but may have brief interludes of higher intensity with reduced visibility. Accumulation is expected to be low, with "sub advisory amounts expected," the weather service says.

Scattered snow showers are expected through the day today, with highs in the mid 20s. Snow showers will likely continue through the evening, with lows dropping to around 7 degrees, according to the weather service.

Christmas Eve is expected to be partly sunny with highs remaining in the 20s. Light snow may begin again Monday night, the weather service says.

A low pressure system is expected to sweep through from the southwest later in the week leading to possibly heavy snowfall Wednesday and Thursday, with strong winds also expected, according to the weather service.
