Snow predicted for Thanksgiving Day in St. Lawrence County, turning wet Friday

The weather could get sloppy for Thanksgiving Day and Friday with precipitation continuing into the weekend, the National Weather Service predicts.

Skies will clear somewhat this afternoon in the St. Lawrence Valley with highs today near 32.

It is expected to cloud up again tonight. That will bring a chance of light snow in higher elevations tonight. Lows will be in the 20s.

On Thanksgiving Day and night, light snow is expected with little accumulation. Highs are expected to be in the mid 30s, and lows around 30.

On Friday, rain and snow showers are predicted, with highs approaching 40 degrees and overnight lows in the mid 30s.

Snow and rain are expected to continue into Saturday and Saturday night, while Sunday will be cloudy.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 32. West wind 3 to 6 mph.

• Tonight: Increasing clouds, with a low around 23. Light and variable wind.

• Thanksgiving Day: Light snow, mainly after 10am. High near 34. Light east wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

• Thursday Night: Light snow likely before 7pm. Cloudy, with a low around 30. Light east wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

• Friday: A chance of rain and snow showers before noon, then rain showers between noon and 5pm, then rain and snow showers after 5pm. High near 38. Light east wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

• Friday Night: Rain and snow showers likely, becoming all snow after 5am. Cloudy, with a low around 33. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

• Saturday: Snow showers likely before 9am, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 9am and 10am, then a chance of rain showers after 10am. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

• Saturday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 30. Northwest wind 3 to 5 mph.
