As much as half a foot of snow is expected today and tonight in St. Lawrence County.
It will be warm enough today that the National Weather Service is forecasting the chance of rain along with snow today in the St. Lawrence Valley before the North Country is locked once again into unseasonable cold through Wednesday.
The high today will be in the mid-30s, and lows tonight under still-cloudy skies around 9 degrees with wind chills into below-zero territory.
The sun could show itself Sunday but temperatures are not expedcted to be much above 20.
Sunday night the termperature plummets to minus 20 under partly cloudy skies.
The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:
Today Rain showers and snow before 2pm, then a chance of snow between 2pm and 4pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers after 4pm. High near 34. Light and variable wind becoming west 9 to 14 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
Tonight A chance of rain and snow showers before 8pm, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 9. Wind chill values as low as -3. Southwest wind 9 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Sunday A 20 percent chance of snow showers before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 20. Wind chill values as low as -5. West wind 10 to 14 mph.
