Snow expected in St. Lawrence Valley tonight, Thursday; temperatures expected to drop to below zero

The National Weather Service is calling for hazardous weather throughout the North County with snow expected Wednesday afternoon and early Thursday morning.

A low-pressure area moving off the mid-Atlantic coast early today will pass south of Cape Cod this afternoon. This low will bring some light snow to parts of the region.

Snow showers are possible late tonight across northern New York as an arctic cold front move southeast from Canada.

The front will move through the region early Thursday with a chance of snow showers.

This cold front will bring falling temperatures to the region during the day on Thursday and below zero temperatures Thursday night and early Friday.

Another shot of arctic air will bring very cold air to the region

From Sunday night through Tuesday with below zero temperatures expected

Sunday night and Monday night.

The colder air over the region will increase the potential for freeze up ice jams, especially on open waterways. No flooding is expected, but rapid in bank rises are possible with any freeze up ice jam that may develop.
