Snow could be heavy at times in St. Lawrence Valley tonight, low around zero, wind chills minus 8

 The National Weather Service is warning that snow in the St. Lawrence Valley this evening could be heavy before the sky begins to clear late tonight, making way for cold temperatures overnight, as low as zero degrees, and with wind chills as low as minus 8.

There is a 20 percent chance of snow tomorrow with temps reaching the mid-teens with southwest winds at 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday night, the NW says, there is a 40 percent chance of snow with lows in the single digits.

The forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

• Late Afternoon: Snow showers likely. The snow could be heavy at times. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 25. West wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

• Tonight: Snow showers likely, mainly before 9pm. The snow could be heavy at times. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 0. Wind chill values as low as -8. West wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

• Thursday: A 20 percent chance of snow showers after 2pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 14. Wind chill values as low as -7. Light west wind becoming southwest 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

• Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow showers after midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 8. Wind chill values as low as -5. Southwest wind around 14 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

• Friday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 12. Northwest wind 8 to 14 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

• Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around -5. Northeast wind around 6 mph.

• Saturday: A 30 percent chance of snow after 1pm. Mostly cloudy and cold, with a high near 10. Northeast wind 6 to 9 mph.

• Saturday Night: Light snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 6. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

• Sunday: Light snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 18. Northeast wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

• Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 6. Light northwest wind becoming west 5 to 9 mph in the evening.

• Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 14. West wind 6 to 9 mph.

• Monday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 1. West wind around 6 mph becoming south after midnight.
