A snowy morning commute will taper off around noon in St. Lawrence County, according to the National Weather Service.
While the county received snowfall Thursday, most areas were well below the 6 to 9 inches that had expected by forecasters.
Snow will return New Year's Eve with 1 to 3 inches possible, but sun is expected to break through New Year's Day with a high temperature near 30.

A 30 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before noon. Cloudy, with a high near 29. West wind 10 to 16 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tonight
Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 12. West wind 8 to 11 mph.
Saturday
A slight chance of snow showers before 8am, then a chance of snow, mainly after 2pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 30. Light and variable wind becoming southeast 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
