CANTON -- Registration is still open for a free health services response workshop from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 19 on the second floor of the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department, 80 State Highway 310.
The instructor-led, basic level course, hosted by the American Red Cross of Northern New York, is designed to orient licensed health-care professionals to the roles and responsibilities of health services in a disaster.
Participants completing the course will be prepared to assist residents in shelters to the extent their professional training allows. The course qualifies for continuing education credit.
Following the workshop, a disaster services overview course will run from 1 to 4 p.m.
The course is the first in a series to prepare medical personnel who seek to become eligible to respond to a regional or national emergency on behalf of the Red Cross.
