The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the North Country as incoming precipitation could make roads slick on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Meteorologists expect 1 to 2 inches of snow Wednesday night, followed by wintry mix into Thursday.

There is a chance of rain Thursday afternoon and a chance of rain and snowshowers Thursday evening, NWS said.

Temperatures are forecast to hit lows Wednesday night around 25, spiking around 39 Thursday and dropping to lows around 22 Thursday night.

Friday is expected to be partly sunny with highs around 32 during the day and partly cloudy with lows around 16 at night.

The detailed forecast for St. Lawrence County:

Wednesday night - Snow before 1am, then snow and sleet between 1am and 5am, then freezing rain and sleet likely after 5am. Low around 25. Southeast wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of around an inch possible.

Thursday - Rain, snow, and sleet likely before 2pm, then a chance of rain between 2pm and 5pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers after 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Southwest wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday night - A chance of rain and snow showers before 8pm, then a slight chance of snow showers between 8pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. West wind 9 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday - Partly sunny, with a high near 32. West wind around 7 mph.

Friday night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 16. West wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable.

Saturday - A chance of rain and snow before 2pm, then a chance of rain between 2pm and 5pm, then a chance of rain and snow after 5pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 36. Southeast wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Saturday night - Rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 2am, then rain or freezing rain between 2am and 3am, then rain after 3am. Low around 32. Southeast wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Sunday - Rain. High near 49. Southeast wind 11 to 14 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Sunday night - Rain before 11pm, then rain and snow showers between 11pm and midnight, then snow showers after midnight. Low around 20. Breezy, with a southwest wind 17 to 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Monday - A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 24. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.

Monday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 5. Northwest wind 8 to 15 mph.

Tuesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 21. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming north in the afternoon.

Tuesday night - A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 9. East wind 5 to 7 mph becoming south after midnight.
