Slic doubles speed for St. Lawrence County residential internet customers

Slic Network Solutions have upgraded their internet service by doubling speeds for residential customers in St. Lawrence County without a rate increase, the company says.

Slic, providers to 23 rural communities in New York State, now has internet at to up to 100 megabits per second for both uploading and downloading, depending on the customer’s service plan.

That is “fast enough to download an entire music album in less than 10 seconds,” the announcement from Slic said. It provides superior service for audio and video streaming services, more of which are coming online all the time, for cloud backups and uploading of photos to social media platforms.

Slic Networks says it has not charged customers any additional fees for the higher speeds, required no technician visits to the customer’s residence or property, and no customer equipment replacement.

In recent years, Slic Network Solutions has installed many miles of fiber lines in St. Lawrence and surrounding counties to bring Internet services to rural customers that had not had high-speed service until then.

“Many have been stuck for years on dial-up or limited to speeds which DSL or cable modem service can provide. Others have never received the speeds promised,” a press release from Slic said.

Slic Network Solutions is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nicholville Telephone Company.
