Six face drug charges following police raid of Ogdensburg home

OGDENSBURG -- Six people are facing a variety of drug charges after police raided a home at 217 Gates St. on Tuesday.

Ogdensburg detectives say they executed a search warrant and discovered evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing, as well as crack cocaine and prescription drugs.

Those charged include:

• Jamie R. Gaines, 47, of 217 Gates St., Ogdensburg is charged with a felony count of unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, a felony count of first-degree criminal nuisance and three misdemeanor counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police said she possessed meth, crack and prescription medicine. police said. She is being held pending arraignment, police said.

• Eddie L. Richardson, 34, of 1653 Lincoln Ave., Utica is charged with one felony count each of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence, a misdemeanor count of second-degree obstructing governmental administration and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. He is being held pending arraignment, police said.

• Darcy R. Whalen, 36, of 5256 County Rte. 10, Heuvelton was charged with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, child endangerment and criminal possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials, all misdemeanors, police said. She was released with an appearance ticket for Ogdensburg City Court on Jan. 25 at 9 a.m., police said.

• Cody W. Billings, 30, of 847 County Rte. 4, Ogdensburg was charged with a felony count of unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine. He is being held pending arraignment, police said.

• Shane R. Bell, 36, no fixed address was charged with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, misdemeanor. He was released with an appearance ticket for Ogdensburg City Court on Jan. 25 at 9 a.m., police said.

• Jeffrey D. Bresett, 41, no fixed address, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and a bench warrant for failure to appear in court. He is being held pending arraignment, police said.

Ogdensburg police said the meth lab resulted in the New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Response Team being called in.

Additional responding law enforcement included the St. Lawrence County Drug Task force, Gouverneur Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, state troopers and the United States Border Patrol.
