MASSENA -- A brother and sister from Massena have earned martial arts black belts.
Sensei Daniel Benham, 15, and his sister Katelyn, 9, both students at Massena Central Schools, recently passed his first-degree black belt test in both ITF Tae Kwon Do and Joshiki Martial Arts.[img_assist|nid=203771|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=250|height=418]
The two-hour test was at the U.S. Combat Dojo in Massena.
Acting as judges at the tests were instructor Jonathan A. French, senseis Joe Vierno and Jonathan G. French, instructor Amos Brooks and senseis Bill Jaggers, Talia Rodriguez and Daniel Benham
“We are honored to have such an amazing martial artist at our school. Sensei Benham passed the test and impressed the judges,” French said. “We are honored to have Katelyn in our school and being 9 years old was extremely rare but she did an amazing job and the judges were highly impressed with her skills at such a young age.”
