Showers, maybe thunderstorms in forecast for St. Lawrence Valley today and tonight

Rain is in the forecast for today, tonight and tomorrow, in the form of showers and possible thunderstorms.

A front is pushing through the St. Lawrence Valley and will likely produce some pecipitation. Today and tonight the chance stands at 30 percent, but tonight it is at 70 percent. Between a quarter and half an inch is possible tonight.

Temperatures through this week will be near normal, with highs in the 70s and lower 80s and overnight lows in the around 50, until Friday and Saturday, when the National Weather Service predicts that highs will be in the upper 80s before dropping back off next Saturday.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:

Today: A slight chance of showers between 11am and 1pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Southwest wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 61. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 9am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 72. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 48. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 74. Light southwest wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the morning.
