Shower and thunderstorms expected this afternoon; clear skies, pleasant temps forecasted all week in St. Lawrence County

A low pressure system will move a warm front through the St. Lawrence Valley this morning and a cold front tonight which will likely bring showers and thunderstorms throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers are expected to taper off before midnight with a few lingering showers and storms possible on Monday.

Temperatures will reach in the upper 70s today with south winds of 15 to 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph, NWS says. The chance of rain is 60 percent.

There is a 50 percent chance of rain this evening with lows dropping into the 60s overnight.

Monday’s forecast is partly sunny with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. High’s are expected to reach in the upper 70s with light winds, according to the NWS.

The forecast for the remainder of the week is as follows:

• Monday there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2 and 5 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 77. West wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

• Monday night there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 1am and 2am, then a chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

• Tuesday there is a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 3 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 71. Light southwest wind increasing to 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

• Tuesday night there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm, then a chance of showers between 9pm and 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. Southwest wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

• Wednesday Partly sunny, with a high near 71. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

• Wednesday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 55. Southwest wind around 6 mph.

• Thursday Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

• Thursday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 55. Southwest wind around 6 mph.

• Friday Mostly sunny, with a high near 77. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

• Friday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 57. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

• Saturday Mostly sunny, with a high near 81. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph.
