This is on the North Country people who feel they have the right to “put down,” or shoot, a pet. Whether it is ailing or you cannot afford to have it put to sleep, it is against the law in this state anyway, to shoot a pet. Bear in mind, you taught this “pet” to become dependent on you. You taught it to trust you. So to “shoot” it, in my opinion, is just like a child molester or child killer gaining the trust of a child to do harm. No different. It’s the law. I have had more than a few elementary students tell me their dad, step dad etc., had to “shoot” our dog. Had to “put it out of its misery.” Don’t even start me on cat abuse from the male population, it seems to be a problem in many homes. You wonder what our youth see, eh? Not good.
