CANTON – A public appeal for help from the county Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest Friday of an Ogdensburg man wanted in connection with burglaries in Canton, Gouverneur, Russell and Oswegatchie.
Sheriff’s investigators said that Victor R. Gardner, 27, 809 Ford St., Ogdensburg, has been charged with second-degree burglary and petit larceny on a warrant was issued by the Canton Town Court in connection with a house burglary in Gouverneur.
On Friday, the Sheriff's Office issued a description and photograph of Gardner to the news media in hopes of gettingn help finding the suspect.
"The Ogdensburg Police dept. received a tip from the public on Gardner’s whereabouts after seeing his picture on the news," the Sheriff’s Office report said.
The Ogdensburg Police Department sent a patrol to a residence in the city and arrested Gardner and turned him over to the Sheriff’s Office.
Gardner was arraigned in Town of Canton court and held without bail.
