POTSDAM – The Town of Potsdam and St. Lawrence County share a road salt shed that needs a new roof.
The shed, built in 1982 by town workers, can have a new metal roof for about $2,500 in materials and labor supplied by the workers, according to town Highway Superintendent John Keleher.
The barn has three bays each with a capacity of about 100 tons of salt. The county uses two bays and the town uses one.
“The county says they will help,” Keleher said. “We’ll do the labor.”
No deal has been struck.
“It’s early. There’s no plan yet,” he said, but he expects they will work out an agreement.
