POTSDAM – The St. Lawrence County Arts Council will offer a variety of classes throughout September.
Becky Harblin, a Wellness Arts Practitioner, will host a healing poetry class. Cost is $25, and students should bring a favorite quote or poem to share.
Class will meet Sept. 8 from 2 to 5 p.m. in room 229 at Downtown Snell Hall, 41 Elm Street, Potsdam.
Andrew Brink, will teach students how to use subtle audio cues from classic radio broadcasts to set a scene in their minds.
Over the course of three weeks, he will gradually decrease the amount of guidance in visualizing the characters and action as students' listening skills increase. Classes will meet Mondays, Sep. 10, 17, 24 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Downtown Snell Hall. Cost is $42, and students should bring a pen and paper to class.
Alyssa Curley of Potsdam will teach Sculpture Building for ages 4-10 at the St. Lawrence County Arts Council on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 2 -3 p.m.
Curley will teach children about sculpture as an art form and show children how to use foam, recycled materials, and small found objects to create their own mini sculptures. The class will meet at Downtown Snell Hall. Cost is $15.
Beginning guitar players are invited to learn from guitarist Jon Dufore, a graduate of the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, Calif. Dufore will teach teens and adults how to take open chord shapes up the fretboard on the guitar to be played in different positions.

This class will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. on both Thursday, Sep. 13 and Sep. 20 in room 229 at Downtown Snell Hall, 41 Elm Street, Potsdam. The cost is $30, and students should bring their guitar.
