North Country Sen. Patty Ritchie, R-Heuvelton, is inviting people to nominate friends, coworkers and local leaders who have made a difference in their communities for the New York State Senate’s “Women of Distinction” program.

The “Women of Distinction” program honors distinguished women from our region and throughout the Empire State who have been trailblazers in business, academics and civic life, as well as those who have performed heroic or selfless acts, or have personally excelled against difficult odds.

“There are remarkable women in our midst whose work or every day contributions make our communities better, make our families stronger and serve as special examples to others,” said Senator Ritchie.

“The ‘Women of Distinction’ program provides a special opportunity to honor these women and to thank them for the pride they bring to our communities. I am hopeful that people throughout our region will take time to nominate the outstanding women who make our region such a special place.”

Women living in the 48th Senate District, including St. Lawrence County, are eligible for nomination. Family, friends or coworkers are invited to make nominations by downloading a nomination form on Senator Ritchie’s website, www.ritchie.nysenate.gov, or by calling (315) 782-3418. The deadline to submit a nomination is April 20.

Last year, Sen. Ritchie honored 30 “Women of Distinction” at a special ceremony at the Riveredge Resort in Alexandria Bay. Information on this year’s ceremony will be announced at a later date.
