State Senator Betty Little (R-Queensbury) has been reappointed chair of the Senate Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation Committee for the 2013-14 legislative session, a position she has held the past two years.
Little, who is representing part of St. Lawrence County for the first time in the new 45th Senate District, has a constituency that includes the towns of Parishville, Lawrence, Clare, Colton, Hopkinton and Piercefield, and the entire counties of Franklin, Clinton, Essex, Warren and Washington.
“I’m very happy to be reappointed given the tourism industry’s importance to the North Country economy,” said Little.
“Governor Cuomo’s executive budget includes new funding for tourism promotion, which is great to see and I look forward to learning more about this proposal in an upcoming budget hearing.
“New York’s diverse inventory of cultural, historical, natural and recreational assets is second to none. Promoting them through paid advertising is costly but study after study shows that it’s an investment with a great return.”
Little has also been appointed to the committees on Consumer Protection; Crime Victims, Crime and Correction; Education; Environmental Conservation; Finance; and Judiciary.
