Sen. Griffo appointed liason to Executive Branch

Sen. Joseph A. Griffo, R-Rome, has been appointed liaison to the Executive Branch.

In a news release, Griffo said the liaison is an integral link between the Senate majority and the governor’s office on an array of public policy issues.

Griffo's 47th Senate District includes the towns of Massena, Brasher, Norfolk, Stockholm, Potsdam, Pierrepont, Russell, Clifton, Fine, and Pitcairn in St. Lawrence County, plus Lewis and Oneida counties.

Griffo also joins the Senate Codes Committee, which considers issues and bills related to the state’s criminal and civil justice system. The Codes Committee makes recommendations on changes to the state Criminal Procedure, Penal and Civil Practice laws, as well as some articles in the Executive Law.

Griffo remains chairman of the Senate Banks Committee, as well as a member of the following committees: Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business; Crime Victims, Crime and Correction; Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation; Energy and Telecommunications; Finance; Higher Education; Infrastructure and Capital Investment; Racing, Gaming and Wagering; and Veterans, Homeland Security & Military Affairs.

He is also on the Senate Select Committee on Science, Technology, Incubation and Entrepreneurship.

There is no extra stipend associated with the new leadership post and new committee assignment.
