MASSENA -- U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will not attend an economic summit with five federal agencies at 2 p.m. at the Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center, located at 21 Hawkins Point Road.
Her staff made the announcment less than an hour before the meeting, which will still be held.
Those present will discuss ways to strengthen the local economy and create jobs in the North Country.
Sen. Gillibrand will be joined at the event by the New York Power Authority, St. Lawrence County IDA, St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce, the Massena Business Development Corp, with presentations on how federal agencies can assist with economic development from the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC), the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rural Development (USDA), the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
