MASSENA -- The Board of Education here announced that students in second and third grades can have a protective anti-decay sealant applied to their teeth free of charge, as well as get a free follow-up check.
A dentist’s office will check the child’s teeth to see if the sealant is necessary before applying it, according to a letter to the board from Community Health Center of the North Country, which sponsors the program.
If the sealant is applied and the child is covered by private insurance or Medicaid, the company will be billed, according to the letter, but there will be no co-pay, charge, or balance due.
Parents must fill out a medical consent form and billing information form for the child to be eligible, which will be sent home with the student.
