NORWOOD -- The staff and administration at Seaway Career & Technical Education Center have announced the selection of Katelyn Ross as the Potsdam Rotary Club/Seaway Career & Technical Education Center Student of the Month for November.

Katelyn, who is enrolled in the Allied Health Program, is also a student at Massena Central. She is the daughter of John & Mary Francis Ross.

Allied Health is a one-year program for high school seniors who would like to pursue a degree in health care.

Students learn about the health care fields as well as take courses in Medical Terminology, Legal & Ethics, Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology.

The students shadow health care professionals throughout the year to help them make choices for college. Students will obtain 7.5 college credits through the Bridge Program. They will also receive BLS certification.

Mrs. Saxby, Allied Health Instructor, has said the following about Katelyn: Katelyn is a bright young lady who plans to attend college in the area of Physical Therapy. She was chosen as Rotary Student of the Month because she has not only done exceptional work, but has taken on a leadership role in the area of fundraising for the Allied Health students to attend a Health Care competition in Syracuse, NY, in the Spring. She demonstrates strong organizational skills and sees the importance in being involved in the community around her. She wants to make a difference in all she does.
