The Seaway Smash Club Teams Subzero and Attack competed in their first tournament of 2017 on Jan. 21 in Goshen at the Whoosh Bowl.
Subzero finished with a strong fourth place and Attack was barely edged out of the final match to finish in third place.
On Feb. 12, the teams then traveled to compete in the Aftershock February Flurry in Cobleskill. The 15U Attack Team competed in the 16U bracket and came home with the win.
The 17U Subzero team handed hosts Aftershock two losses before losing in the semi-finals and finishing in third place.
Both teams are gearing up for the VolleyFX Winter Challenge held this year in the Rochester area March 4-5.
Playing for the 15U Attack team is: Jacqueline Butler (Potsdam), Tionna David (Salmon River), Delany Durant (Massena), Rylie Gray (Salmon River), Marissa Hawkins (Madrid-Waddington), Hannah Hughes (Potsdam), Kendall Jock (Salmon River), Sophia Mitchell (Massena), Ieronhenehtha Point (Massena), Emily Smith (Potsdam) and Arianna Thompson (Massena).
The 17U Subzero team includes Sara Archer (Canton), Emily Ashlaw (Chateaugay), Ann Beauchamp (Potsdam), Rebecca Castleman (Massena), Rebecca Delair (Tupper Lake), Gabrielle Durant (Massena), Grace Harrigan (Chateaugay), Arieana Kirkey (Massena), Camryn Mangual (Potsdam), Isabel Pecora (Potsdam), Valerie Titus (Chateaugay) & Abigail Wilhelm (Lisbon).
Seaway Smash Volleyball Club is currently in its third season. In the first two seasons, the club focused solely on its competitive volleyball teams. This season the club has expanded to include a K-6 program that ran this past fall plus a local program, Dig Squad, that started at the end of the Section X season.
Seaway Smash VBC is in the process of becoming a non-profit organization.
