Seaway Cruisers gear up for season with car shows, cruise-ins, other events around North Country

MASSENA -- The Seaway Cruisers Classic Car Club Inc. has a variety of cruise-ins and car shows planned for the coming season and will be making appearances at other shows around the region and statewide.

The club promotes interest in antique, classic and customized automobiles and aids in the restoration, preservation, and enjoyment of these vehicles.

The Seaway Cruisers are organized exclusively for social and recreational purposes including the increase of communication and fellowship among persons interested in these objectives through social activities.

The group hosts an annual car show held as a part of the Ogdensburg Seaway Festival, participates in local cruise-ins and various other local events plus makes regular donations to local charities.

Annual membership is open to anyone who supports the organization’s mission and submits an application.

The club membership year is Jan. 1-Dec. 31 and is only $12.

The Cruisers have a variety of upcoming events they will be hosting or participating in as a group, both in St. Lawrence County and further afield.

Their schedule for the season:

• Thursdays, from May 10-Sept. 6 from 5-8 p.m. at the Highway Legends Car, Truck and Bike Club Cruise-In at P&M Construction, 759 Starbuck Ave., Watertown, across from the NY Airbrake.

• Tuesdays, from May 1-Oct. 2, from 6-8 p.m. at the Malone Auto Club Cruise-In at various venues.

• Wednesdays, from May through October, from 6-8 p.m. at the Cruise-In at Twin Leaf in Hogansburg.

• May 19 at 9 a.m. at the 9th Annual Two Nation 1000 Islands Extravaganza in Clayton, hosted by Highway Legends (www.1000islandscarshow.com). The Seaway Cruisers will be travelling together from the Ogdensburg Burger King.

Other group trips planned for later in the season include Hemmings Motors News Cruise-In in Bennington, Vt.; the Stowe, Vt. Car Show Aug. 10-12; Hemmings Musclepalooza Sept. 2 in West Lebanon, N.Y.; Hemmings Concourse de Excelance Sept. 14-16 in Lake George; and the AACA Fall Meet in Hershey, Pa. Oct. 10-13.

Any Cruiser interested in participating in the group trips are advised to call now to book hotel rooms.

Other events are listed on the Cruisers site and members of the group frequently participate in various events listed with the AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) local chapter, the St. Lawrence/Adirondack AACA.
