Search for new Parishville-Hopkinton Central School superintendent down to two candidates

PARISHVILLE — The Parishville-Hopkinton Central School Board of Education has narrowed its superintendent search down to two finalists.

The two candidates will participate in stakeholder and community group interviews later this month.

Erin E. Woods will be interviewed Wednesday, May 24 and William E. Collins, will be interviewed Thursday, May 25. Both sessions begin at 5:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Both candidates will give a 20-minute presentation following by a question and answer period.

Woods or Collins will replace Wayne Walbridge, who has been serving as interim superintendent since February. Walbridge replaced Darin P. Saiff, who had held the position since 2009, before taking a position as assistant superintendent for instruction at St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES.

Woods currently serves as the special education school improvement specialist for Regional Special Education Technical Assistance Center, a position she has held since Jan. 2016. From 2077-2016 she served as the superintendent of schools and elementary principal for Lisbon Central School.

She began her career with OFA as a special education teacher in 1994. She has held the following positions during her career: elementary counselor and committee on special education chairperson at Lisbon Central, committee on special education chairperson at OFA and elementary principal at John F. Kennedy School in Ogdensburg.

Wood received her masters of education degree in educational administration from St. Lawrence University and her bachelor in science degree in psychology and special education from LeMoyne College.

Collins currently served as the coordinator of graduate leadership programs at St. Lawrence University, a positions held since 2013. From 2004 through 2013 he was the principal for William E. Norris Elementary School in Massachusetts.

He began his career in 2001 as the assistant principal for Williams Middle School in Massachusetts.

He has held the following positions during his career: assistant principal and guidance counselor at Silver Lake Regional Middle School in Massachusetts and principal at Saint Patrick School in New Hampshire.

Collins received his doctorate of education in educational leadership from Boston College, his master of education in school counseling from Bridgewater State College his his bachelor of arts in liberal studies from Anna Maria College.

The new superintendent will assume their responsibilities July 1.
