MASSENA -- SeaComm has been named, for the seventh year, as one of the "Best Companies to Work for in New York State" for 2017.

The 2017 awards are a partnership of the New York State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, The Business Council of New York, Best Companies Group and BridgeTower Media.

“We are very pleased to be recognized for a seventh consecutive year as a Best Company to Work for in New York. This honor solidifies for us that SeaComm, as an employer, really cares about its employees,” SeaComm president and CEO Scott A. Wilson said in a prepared statement. “It is the direct feedback from the survey which enables us to set an overall employee engagement strategy to ensure each person who works for us has the tools necessary to do their jobs effectively, knows our long-term strategy and feel valued in that they understand how they fit into the organization and its overall success. Our success, we believe, is focusing on the right things. It’s taking care of our employees, who take care of our members.”

SeaComm will be honored at a public awards dinner in Albany later this spring. During the event, SeaComm will learn its ranking among the 46 companies in the category for small/medium employers with 15 to 249 U.S. employees.

In addition, a special publication profiling all 70 winning organizations and their unique employment perks will be produced for distribution to event attendees, higher education institutions, as well as thousands of human resources professionals and organizations across New York state.

To be considered for participation, companies enter into a two-part, 82-question employee survey process, which encompasses eight categories: leadership and planning, corporate culture and communication, role satisfaction, work environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits and overall engagement.

“SeaComm prides itself on being a good employer. In fact, it is one our corporate strategic goals. We take that objective extremely serious and by this very award for a seventh consecutive year, our dedication to that long-term goal continues to be validated,” Wilson said in the news release.

SeaComm is a member owned financial cooperative based in Massena with over 43,000 members and assets of more than $500 million. The credit union has branches in Massena, Potsdam, Malone, Canton, and Ogdensburg and is coming to Plattsburgh later this year. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in St. Lawrence, Franklin or Clinton Counties.
