MASSENA -- SeaComm Federal Credit Union recently finalized a $25,000 pledge agreement with North Country Community College that creates a scholarship.
The SeaComm Endowed Scholarship will be awarded annually, over the course of five years, to a deserving student from St. Lawrence, Franklin or Clinton counties.
The scholarship recipient must be in good academic standing and achieve a 2.5 grade point average to maintain the award. The student must also demonstrate community or college service, and can be either a full-time or part-time student at NCCC, a news release from Seacomm said.
Scott A. Wilson, SeaComm president and CEO, worked with the North Country Community College Foundation to create the scholarship and its guidelines.
"Higher education plays a critical role in not only helping to shape the minds of our north country neighbors, but also as a significant economic driver in the North Country," Wilson said in a prepared statement. "SeaComm is committed to North Country Community College’s mission and the essential work they provide in developing educated talent that employers like us depend on to fill our human resources needs. This perpetual SeaComm Scholarship, in partnership with NCCC, will ensure that resource is available for many years to come."
