MASSENA -- SeaComm Federal Credit Union made a $25,000 pledge agreement with SUNY Canton that creates a scholarship opportunity for students who actively study and participate in a field of financial literacy.

Scott A. Wilson, President and Chief Executive Officer of SeaComm, worked with the Canton College Foundation to create the scholarship guidelines and secure the opportunity.

"Higher education plays a critical role in not only helping to shape the minds of our north country neighbors, but also as a significant economic driver in the North Country," said Wilson. "SeaComm is committed to SUNY Canton’s mission and the essential work they provide in developing educated talent that we as an employer depend on to fill our human resources needs. This perpetual SeaComm Financial Literacy Scholarship in partnership with SUNY Canton will ensure that resource is available for many years to come."

The SeaComm FCU Financial Literacy Scholarship will be awarded annually, over the course of five years, to a deserving student from St. Lawrence, Franklin or Clinton County. The scholarship recipient must demonstrate his or her ability and willingness to help teach and lead others, sharing the financial knowledge learned in classes with the greater college and local community. Further information can be obtained through the Canton College Foundation.
