Scattered thunderstorms will develop by mid afternoon with some storms capable of producing gusty winds, small hail and localized very high rainfall rates in parts of St. Lawrence County, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Highs today will be around 85 degrees with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, the service says.
A line of stronger storms with potential isolated damaging wind threat is expected to impact the Saint Lawrence Valley and western Adirondacks this evening, NWS says. This line of storms will weaken across the northern Adirondack Mountains and Champlain Valley late this evening with localized gusty winds possible.
Storms and precipitation tonight will be mainly between 11 p.m. and midnight with possible thunderstorms after midnight, NWS says. Winds of 15 to 20 miles per hour are expected with gusts as high as 31 mph possible.
There is a 50 percent chance of storms and more rain on Saturday with much cooler temps for the day likely. The high Saturday is expected to be 72, the service says.
The forecast through the middle of next week is as follows:

A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 72. Southwest wind 7 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
