NORWOOD -- Save The Fountain Project, an initiative founded by Norwood residents aiming to restore the historic fountain at the former Norwood Union/Grade School, announced the fountain has been nearly restored.

A solar power source installation will complete he project.

Save The Fountain reached out to Kevin McAdam, coordinator of the Solar Ready Vets Program at Fort Drum, who trains soldiers seeking a career in the solar energy field.

A meeting at the fountain took place on July 5 with Norwood Mayor, Tim Levison, Save The Fountain committee members, Kevin McAdam, Mike Tremper from Clarkson University, and Kirk Colbert, a Norwood veteran who also trained in the Solar Ready Vets Program and works at a local Norwood business, Cornerstone Services, to collaborate on the set-up and installation to finish this project.

Save The Fountain and the Village of Norwood have been working together toward the development of the park surrounding the fountain on Prospect Street.

Save The Fountain again created a float and joined Norwood 4 of July parade to hand out pamphlets to the community that discussed the progress over the last year and included donor opportunities to assist in beautifying the park area.

In consideration of the many individuals over the last year who expressed an interest in memorial bricks, bricks can be ordered at https://www.bricksrus.com/order/fountain/. Those interested in ordering who do not have access to a computer can contact Terri Sharlow Clemmo at 315-842-9596 for a paper order form.

Other donor opportunities available are park benches, historic kiosks and shrubbery.

Save The Fountain was founded on May 25, 2016, to work toward the restoration of the historic fountain.

Phase II of Save The Fountain is to create a park, with the iconic fountain returning as the focal point it once had.
