Salmon River Central School District has hired Ben Barkley and Monica Baron to fill vacant administrator positions.

Ben Barkley will serve as elementary school principal and Monica Baron will act as high school principal.

Ben Barkley has served Salmon River School District for fifteen years as a teacher in both the elementary and middle school. He has also acted as the modified and varsity coach for the soccer and baseball teams. Most recently, Barkley was the high school Dean of Students and middle school administrative intern. Barkley holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Lawrence University, a Master of Science in Teaching from SUNY Potsdam and is a candidate for a Master of Science in Educational Administration.

“Ben has served our district for fifteen years and has demonstrated the leadership, character, and level of compassion necessary for an elementary principal, “ said Superintendent Stanley Harper. “We are thrilled to have Ben on our administrative team and believe he will be successful in his initial appointment to elementary principal.”

Monica Baron has over twenty years of experience in education. She began her career as a special education teacher, and has nearly a decade of experience as a building administrator. Baron has served as Director of Pupil Personnel Services in three school districts, and previously acted as Director of Special and Building Principal. Baron holds a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from the College of Saint Rose, and a Master of Science in Special Education and Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration, also from The College of Saint Rose.

“We are fortunate to welcome a candidate of Monica’s caliber to Salmon River High School,” said Superintendent Harper. “She has dedicated her career to improving the educational systems she has worked in, and we are confident that she will bring new ideas and energy to our district.”
