RUSSELL -- Two Russell residents were arrested Monday following an investigation of a shotgun being traded for a pistol, according to state police.
Heriberto Escobales, 48, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a firearm. He was arraigned in front of Judge Camp in Pierrepont Town Court and remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail without bail.
Erin Escobales, 32, was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm. She was arraigned and released under the supervision of probation with a Dec. 21 court date.
Mr. Escobales was charged with criminal possession of a firearm on Nov. 16. He is a convicted felon which prohibits him from possessing a firearm.
Neither subject had a pistol permit to legally possess the pistol.
