POTSDAM -- Russell native Jodi Ziemba has been selected for induction into the SUNY Potsdam Bears Hall of Fame.

Of the 130 people and four teams inducted into the Bears Hall of Fame since its inception, Ziemba will receive the honor of being the first women's soccer player selected to join the prestigious group.

Ziemba was an offensive dynamo in her time with the Potsdam women's soccer team. She played in 66 career games and recorded 45 goals and 12 assists for 102 points. Since the women's soccer program started in 1988, no Bear has recorded more points.

She was the SUNYAC Rookie in the Year in 2001 after she tied the conference record for most goals in a single season with 13. It is a co-record that still stands today.

She was a three-time All-SUNYAC selection (first team in 2001 and second team in both 2002 and 2003).

After graduation from Potsdam, Ziemba served as a graduate assistant coach on Ithaca College's 2011 National Semifinalist women's soccer team.

She is now a health coaching supervisor at WellCall, Inc. in Alameda, Calif.

The induction ceremony is set for Saturday, July 12 at the Knowles Conference Center, SUNY Potsdam, beginning at 11:30 a.m. with a reception followed by a noon lunch and the presentations.
