MADRID – A state police robot was deployed to assist in the arrest of a woman at a residence on State Highway 310 Friday evening during an alleged domestic dispute.
Erin J. White, 27, reportedly barricaded herself in the bedroom of her estranged husband’s home and refused to surrender to police after she and her husband, Matthew S. Wilson, both violated an order of protection, troopers said.
Wilson, 32, was immediately located inside the house and taken into custody, police said.
Police said their robot was deployed and successfully made entrance into the residence, locating White inside a bedroom. State police members then entered the residence and took her into custody.
She was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for injuries she had sustained prior to law enforcement responding.
White and Wilson were each charged with second-degree criminal contempt, officers said.
Wilson was arraigned in the Madrid Town Court and released upon his own recognizance to reappear in court Jan. 14 at 7:30 p.m., police said.
Troopers said White was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Canton Town Court Jan. 15 at 1:30 p.m. and in the Madrid Town Court on Jan. 14 at 7 p.m.
