There was a beautiful, light hoar frost this morning as I drove to and from Potsdam, so I had to stop and take some pictures," said Don Straight of Brasher Falls. "This pine grove is on Route 11C, near Winthrop, heading toward Potsdam," he said.

Ice covered portions of St. Lawrence County overnight and caution is advised on side roads, driveways, sidewalks that could potentially be slippery.

For people walking, many areas are covered with glare ice.

Drivers are urged to take extra precautions while driving and expect travel to take longer than usual.

The National Weather service says temps should rise throughout the day to around 42 degrees with freezing rain turning into rain.

Precipitation is expected to stop around 1 p.m. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch are possible, the service says.
