State Sen. Patty Ritchie is accepting nominations from veterans’ posts, family members and community leaders for the Senate’s “Veterans Hall of Fame” program.
The online hall of fame pays tribute to New Yorkers who have served their country in the US Armed Forces and made significant contributions to their communities.
“Central and Northern New York are home to so many veterans who essentially gave their lives for their country—and continued to give even after serving by making a difference in their communities,” said Ritchie.
“In the past we have been able pay tribute to so many brave men and women who served in our Armed Forces and I’m thrilled to recognize and thank even more of our veterans for making the ultimate sacrifice.”
Each state senator can induct one veteran annually. The veteran will be honored at a special ceremony in Albany May 21. All nominees from St. Lawrence, Oswego and Jefferson Counties will be recognized at Ft. Drum May 10.
The hall of fame was created to honor and recognize outstanding veterans who have distinguished themselves in military and civilian life.
To download a nomination form or learn more about past nominees visit www.ritchie.nysenate.gov or call 782-3418. All nominations must be received by April 19.
