RICHVILLE -- A Richville man was killed while repairing a homemade wood splitter at 11:47 a.m. Monday, according to state police.
Leslie Davis, 53, of River Road, Richville, was attempting to repair a wood splitter and had a beam in an upright position, Troop B Public Information officer Jennifer V. Fleishman said.
Fleishman said the beam fell pinning Davis between the splitter and the beam.
DeKalb rescue responded to the scene, but took no life saving measures due to “obvious signs of death,” Fleishman said.
St. Lawrence County Coroner Joseph White ordered the removal of the body and was expected to perform an autopsy yesterday.
Results of the autopsy were not yet available, according to Fleishman.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Calling hours are Thursday from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
