CANTON -- A Richville man was arrested as he was being released from the Jefferson County Jail on a warrant charging him with writing at least 10 bad checks in St. Lawrence County.
Willie J. Davis, 21, of 547 Jonesville Rd., Richville, was brought by St. Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies for arraignment Thursday before Canton Village Justice Greg Storie on charges of first-degree scheming to defraud.
Davis is alleged to have written checks without funds to cover them to at least 10 different places. The value of the checks is alleged to exceed $1,000.
Davis was held on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.
