RICHVILLE -- Richville has jumped to 43rd spot in the Reader’s Digest online contest which will award a top prize of $50,000 for community projects to the town with the most votes as of March 1.
Last week, Richville stood at 191st with more than 3,200 votes. Today, the village has 37,768 votes at last count.
They still have a long way to go to beat Lake City, Iowa, now in first place with more than 2,800,000 votes. While that's a big jump from the 2,383,000 votes they had last week, it doesn't compare to the proportional increase Richville saw since last week.
People can participate by going to http://ReadersDigest.com/America, plugging in Richville’s Zip Code of 13681, and casting a vote as often as they like through March 1. Voters can upload photos and make comments, such as several statements on Richville's page about building a new playground there since the old one was deemed unsafe and condemned.
