RICHVILLE -- A family of five including three young children lost all of their belongings in a house fire Monday on County Rt. 18, according to St. Lawrence County Fire Investigator Joe Lacks.
Fire investigators said the cause of the blaze to be an overheated wood stove pipe in the basement that ignited a wall.
There was significant damage to the second flood and heavy smoke and water damage to the first floor, investigators said.
The house was reportedly owned by Travis Mann of DeKalb and was rented by William Clement and Shelby Hayden along with 3 children ages 9, 7 and 6.
The blaze which occurred around 3:45 pm was responded to by Richville, DeKalb Junction, Gouverneur and Hermon fire departments.
No one was hurt in the blaze but the family lost all of their belongings including recently items purchased for Christmas, Lacks said.
The family was not insured, but the owner did have property insurance.
The Red Cross was called in to assist the family, investigators said.
